Our Policies.
Appointment Policy
Mayfair Animal Clinic primarily operates by scheduled appointments. Patients with life-threatening emergencies will be seen before appointments, which is why occassionally our doctors run behind schedule. We appreciate your patience during these times.
Drop off appointments are available. A “drop off” means that you can bring your pet in between 8-9 am and leave him/her with us for the doctor to examine. Once the doctor has seen the patient, he/she will give you a call to go over their findings. If you are not able to be reached, and the patient needs immediate care, the patient will be treated at the discretion of the doctor on the case. It is crucial that you are available to be reached by phone during these appointments.
As of January 1st, 2019, all “walk-in” clients without a pre-made doctor appointment will be charged a $15 “Immediate Care Fee” if there are no available appointments. These patients will be seen after clients with pre-made appointments, unless it is a life-threatening situation.
“Immediate Care” patients will NOT be seen by a doctor when walking-in less than one hour prior to closing.
Patients with life-threatening issues will always be seen during active hours or referred to a nearby Veterinary Emergency Hospital for care.
To avoid this $15 charge, please call ahead to schedule a doctor appointment for all visits.
We appreciate your understanding of this new policy. It has been put into place to allow the doctors to devote their undivided attention and spend an adequate amount of time with each client and patient.
Patient Arrival Policy
Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.
All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.
For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that rabies vaccinations be up to date.
If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule.
Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, cash and personal checks. Care Credit is also available.
Plan For Your Visit
We offer free off-street parking on Harding, south of NAPA.
If your pet is having urinary issues, please do not allow them to urinate on the way into the clinic. We may need this urine as a sample to send to the lab.
When you arrive at Mayfair Animal Clinic PC, you’ll be asked to sign in at the front desk with your pet. Once an exam room is available, the veterinary technician will then lead you to the room and take a brief history. The veterinary technician will then update the doctor with the history. The doctor will then ask some revised history questions that may be specific to your individual pet’s needs.
Depending on the case, your pet may need diagnostics such as bloodwork, a urinalysis, or radiographs (x-rays) to help determine the cause of why they are not feeling themselves. Some diagnostics require several days to get results, such as biopsies. Diagnostic tests may have to be re-done in the future to check progress or if they are inconclusive.
